The mini documentary “Turtles in Ontario: Silent Cry for Help,” sets a precedent for scholarly research. In the wake of the pandemic, people have become increasingly aware of both field-workers such as nurses and the fragility of nature. The mini-doc echoes this trend by incorporating the practical knowledge of veterinarians, volunteers and law-enforcement officers. While this is consistent with such trends in research as standpoint epistemology and ecological thinking, the mini-doc also emphasizes cooperation between the interviewees, and how different forms of expertise and action converge to solve a wildlife issue in Ontario.

Furthermore, the film and accompanying digital poster were created in collaboration with students and recent graduates. Faculty who reach-out to students in the production of research benefit not only from fresh perspectives, contemporary ideas and skills, but also forge a community of knowledge and creativity across departments of learning.

The presentation includes contributions by Toronto Film School graduate, director and producer Egor Trushin, Graphic Design and Interactive Media students Angèlie Gilchrist Blanchard, and Colleen Fitzpatrick. Their work will be shared and discussed during the presentation about the scholarly merits of "Turtles in Ontario."
